Timeshare Industry
Despite the economic recession, the timeshare industry is growing and more and more people are buying timeshare properties. The concept of timesharing, that is ownership for a period of time, has seeped in to the minds of frequent vacationers and made them realize the value of getting timeshares instead of purchasing the whole unit. The growth potential for the timeshare industry is truly enormous and even large companies have ventured into this kind of business. Marriott, Disney and Hilton have contributed to the credibility of the timeshare industry when they ventured into this vacation ownership industry and this has attracted many buyers to purchase Marriott, Disney and Hilton timeshare packages.
The timeshare concept is very appealing to travelers who are budget conscious. This is especially true for travelers or vacationers who go on a vacation at a specific time in the same place every year where vacation ownership is very practical and economical. Timeshare properties are also a less expensive alternative to buying a second home. Since buying a second home would mean another mortgage payment and a longer paying scheme, it would really be better to buy or rent a vacation home instead. In Las Vegas and Florida, the sales of the timeshare properties have increased, which means more people are now receptive of the idea of being a timeshare buyer. More packages are also being promoted and advertised by the different timeshare resorts and competition is getting bigger. Some hotels would offer a free spa if you avail of their timeshare packages, or some others would give additional points that is if they employ the point system type of membership.
The typical timeshare owners are the upper, middle income, and educated people, the largest percentage of which are married couples. Usually, these vacationers stay long at their vacation houses or villas, two or three weeks, compared to their stay in hotels of two to three nights. Most of these timeshare owners spend their vacation with families or friends. Family vacation spots would usually include outdoor swimming pools, a big garden for parties and lots of rooms for guests. Other amenities are almost the same as that of the hotel. They might include gyms, Jacuzzi, recreation and entertainment rooms.
There are a variety of companies in the timeshare industry with only a few reputable companies in the timeshare resale industry.
